Paul R. Peters, 76
August 1, 1945 - January 19, 2022
Paul R. “Dick” Peters, 76, of Lancaster, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Born in Temple, TX he was the son of the late Paul E. and Mildred (Brosey) Peters. Dick was the loving husband of Jean Ann (Steinman) Peters and they celebrated 55 years of marriage this past December.
Dick graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School and later entered the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania. He was employed by the R. R. Donnelley Printing Co. in Lancaster for 46 years. Throughout his 76 years, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading and, most importantly, spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Mountville.
The last eight years of Dick’s life were spent as a resident of the Mennonite Home, and the family would like to thank the staff for their compassionate care and support over those years.
Along with his wife, Jean, Dick is survived by two children, Lori Garzelloni of North Carolina, and Craig Peters and his wife Amy of Wisconsin, as well as his granddaughters, Isabella and Olivia Garzelloni. Also surviving are two sisters, Linda Peters of Lancaster and Cathy Swart of Florida, and three brothers, Jeffrey (Shari), Gregory (Ginny) and Robert Peters (Lisa), all of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, 17543, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10 AM. For the protection of everyone, all guests are asked to wear masks. Interment will follow at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dick’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 100 West Main Street, Mountville, PA 17554.

Jean, I’m so sorry for your loss. Humm, somehow I remember Dick with more hair. When I was the little tag along sister I remember him coming to our house in Quaker Hills. Sledding comes to mind at Dr. Ripple’s house facing Millersville Pk. Way back into the property, big fast hill that launched the sleds into the air and landed far below. I watched mostlly. Dick went zooming into the air, caught his foot/ankle on a tree. Well the guys had to load him onto his sled and drag him back home. Up hill all the way. Dick was moaning and groaning all the way. The guys gave him no sympathy at all. Dick had a broken ankle. Good Times ???? He was a very gentle man, always happy to see me at the farm. Dick will be miss by all of us. God Bless you and yours. You all are in my prayers. Love, Shirley

Our sincere sympathy to Jean, Craig, Lori, Isabella, Olivia, and family. Friendship and fishing come to mind as I think of Dick. He was a compassionate mentor and teacher throughout my life…and a fine poker player. I can hear him now from those golden streams in Paradise, “Fish on!” Dick, we will always miss you but never forget you. Your memory is a constant pleasure.
Love, Buddy and Kathy

Jean – We were sad to hear about Dick’s passing. He was an asset to our neighborhood and I’m sure he must have been a positive influence on all the lives he touched. We will always remember the good times playing cards with him. We know he’s resting peacefully now. Bob and Linda Edwards

Dick took me under his wing at Donnelley back in 1983 as I became his Assistant Operator as a young man on third shift. He taught me the in’s and out’s of the position, both mechanically and more important interacting with co-workers in a small leadership role. Dick would also talk about life and preparing for the future and for that I am very grateful. He was a hard working, straight forward man who loved and was proud of his family. Dick fought the good fight and is forever home. May God bless your family and bring peace to all of you. Indeed, Heaven received a wonderful man into the Kingdom.
