Ralph C. Schillinger, 86
May 11, 2024
Ralph C. Schillinger, 86, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 in Lancaster, PA.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert and Anna (Spreng) Schillinger. He was the husband of Carol J. (Beringer) Schillinger.
After graduating from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ralph embarked on a successful career as an engineer at FJ Stokes, where he became a leading expert in the field of Injection Molding. Ralph was a man of many passions. He was a devoted Catholic; his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, whether it was water skiing, building train sets, bird watching, or walking the beach. He was a natural and energetic problem solver, whether it was his daily 5 a.m. Sudoku showdown or the never-ending house-related projects at both his and his children’s homes. His greatest joy, though, was the company of his family, especially at their cherished annual retreat to Chincoteague, VA, where he designed and built a home by hand. Those who knew Ralph were familiar with his infectious sense of humor and his mischievous spirit. He loved playing tricks on his children and grandchildren.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Carol Schillinger; his children, Timothy Schillinger, Christine (Brian) Hannon, Matthew (Rima) Schillinger, Karen (Edwin) Paul, and Gregory Schillinger; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Schillinger; and his siblings, Albert, Anna, Fred, Margaret, and Richard.
Friends and family will be received from 11AM to 12PM on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. A Funeral Mass will follow beginning at 12PM.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to St. John Neumann Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 or to Off the Streets at the same address.

Carol and family, I am so sorry to hear of Ralph’s passing. I Greet at the 9:00 am mass. Ralph and I were besties. He always made me laugh, and made sure I was taking care of myself. Ralph would say if I were away and not at mass…”where were you last week”, we would just smile. I will miss Ralph, my bestie dearly, but know he’s in God’s hands and at peace. Blessings to Carol and the family.

I was so saddened to hear about Mr. Schillinger’s passing and my heart breaks for all of his family and friends. I remember him so fondly because he always had such a great sense of humor and was always smiling. He loved being around his family and talking with people. I remember many times being down at Chincoteague with him and his daughter Karen. We would sit in the sunroom and have coffee. He always loved his coffee, and we would talk about everything under the sun. He was so wise and so full of good solid advice but always with the sense of humor. I remember one time sitting at that table having coffee and somehow we got on the topic of marriage and I remember his advice. He told Karen and I “before you walk down that aisle with someone, make sure you take a good, long, hard look!” Mr. Schillinger was such a an Intelligent gentleman with great advice, a sense of humor and a huge heart. I know he will be missed by so many so many people because he touched so many lives. I send my condolences to his wife, Carol, all of his children, grandchildren, and family and friends. May he rest in peace after a beautiful life, well lived and remain eternally in the hearts of those who loved him. You are all in my prayers.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Ralph asked me how my pacemaker made me feel. When I said great he said me too. I enjoyed seeing him win at bingo and picking the prize as you directed.
