Ramon Andres Paredes, 93
October 12, 2024
Ramon Andres Paredes, born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, was called home on the morning of October 12, 2024. A beloved family man, Ramon (Monchin) was the life of the party and had a unique gift for brightening our family gatherings with his warm smile, his heartwarming cooking and his quirky collection of hats.
After a much-earned retirement from Weinstein Paints in Jersey City, New Jersey, Monchin settled in Salinas, Puerto Rico. He and his wife spent their golden years dancing to Mariachi, rooting for ball player, Pedro Martinez, and watching old westerns. The family has heard from many friends and acquaintances about his unwavering generosity he poured out over the years. He had a special passion for feeding anyone and welcoming everyone into his home, which was always filled with love, laughter and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Luz Celenia, and his sister Ramona. He leaves behind his sons, Ramon Jr. (Naomi) and Robert (Monserrat), as well as his cherished daughters Amalia Aponte (Willie), Aida Paredes (Paulie), Shirley Castrolopez (Jesus), and Deborah Rodriguez (Carlos). He is also survived by many, beloved grandchildren and a host of great & great-great grandchildren he adoringly spoiled. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ramona, and his siblings Margarita, Elva, Andre, and Hugo. He was also predeceased by his parents, Andre Amoros Coss and Amalia Paredes Santana.
In honor of Ramon’s vibrant spirit, we invite all who knew him to wear a funny hat this Friday in remembrance of our fun-loving grandfather & family patriarch.
Bendision, Papi y Abuelo!

Monchin & I were friends for over 55 years! I was married to his daughter Shirley for 17 of those years. He treated me like a son for all of the years! He changed my life after a few years of losing my way, his words of wisdom, eventually made me a better man!! For at least the last 35 years, his words of encouragement & words of love when we would meet at family functions, kept me thinking of him & made me a better person! I & my family Love & will miss him dearly, always!!! May Godbless him, for he was & will remain a Great man in the hearts of all who knew him! Jim, Ellie & Joseph Ortega😘🙏
