Randall H. Platon, DDS, 70
December 23, 2024
Randall H. Platon, DDS, 70, passed away at Penn State Lancaster Hospital on Monday, December 23, 2024. Born in Silver Spring, MD, Randy was the cherished son of the late Bernard A. and Ann Platon. He was a devoted husband to the late Kristine Platon, who passed in 2023.
A proud graduate of the University of Maryland, Randy established himself as a trusted and self-employed dentist, serving his community with care and expertise. Outside of his profession, Randy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had an enduring love for jazz music, a keen interest in history, and a fondness for classic westerns. He cherished walks in nature, working in his garden, and family outings to diners. Sundays were often reserved for family dinners and holiday celebrations.
The best time of Randy’s life was spent with his family, particularly his children and grandchildren who will forever miss him.
Randy was a committed member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and an active participant in Lancaster County Alcoholics Anonymous, where he found fellowship and purpose in helping others navigate life’s challenges.
Of all his accomplishments, Randy’s greatest joy was his family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he often spoke of the pride and love he felt for each of them. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Randy is survived by his beloved children: Kristopher Platon, Natalie Platon (Benjamin Stotsky), Alexander Platon (Gwyn Asper), all of Lancaster, and John F. Enright of Lititz. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Breanna, Aubree, Chelsie, John-Jr., and Kennadi, as well as his great-granddaughter Emery. In addition to his parents and wife, Randy was preceded in death by his loving son, Randall B. Platon.
A private graveside service was held at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
In honor of Randy’s memory, contributions may be made to Lancaster County Alcoholics Anonymous, 313 W Liberty St, Suite 373, Lancaster, PA 17603.
Randy will be remembered for his gentle soul, his dedication to family and community, and the lasting impact he made in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.

Dr. Platon saw me on his day off. I was in so much pain. I need a root canal. He performed this. I cried and gave him a hug. I was patient for many years after this, because of this. He told me I needed 11 filling replaced. He did all of them and I never had issues after. He was great at what he did.I had really bad teeth before coming to him. I had all my children and my wife come to him over the years. We loved his quirky facts about life and current events. I’m going to greatly miss him as a Dr. but as a friendly man who always was patient with my family. God bless you Randall. Prayers for your family and friends and patients.

I just want to leave my sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Platon. He has been my dentist since the early ’90’s, and has taken great care of my teeth. I don’t look forward to placing my care with someone else. One of my memories is of Dr. Platon giving a presentation of dental care to my kindergarten students in the mid ’90’s. He did it as a favor to me, and it was greatly appreciated by my students and me. May he rest in peace along with his family members who went before him.

Dr. Planton was our dentist for 25 years and we were shocked to hear this. He was so faithful to his patients and even gave us his cell phone number & if we had a dental emergency he made himself available. He shared with us his favorite song “Send in The Clowns”. He was a friend as well as a great Dentist. We will miss him. Sending our deepest condolences to Dr. Randy’s entire family. God Bless you all. Anthony & Valerie Boffa

Dear Kristopher, Natalie, and John:
It is with with a very sad heart that I am writing to you, the entire family, and grandchildren about how wonderful a person and amazing family man Dr. Platon was. He shared with me all he tried to do to save your mother, his heartbreak when his son and namesake died and how he cherished his family. I deeply appreciated the superb dental services he provided our family. (a root canal is not fun)
At his dental practice he took me to the back employee lunch area where he would pour out his emotions and heartbreak – and express his love for family.
His gentle and caring manner extended to his patients whom he had the deepest respect for as well as all he came in touch with.
The David Lockard family shares in your grief; we wanted to reach out in Christian love to you at this time.

Dear Platon Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your father fondly as my childhood dentist. He had an amazing memory and would talk with me and my 5 siblings at our appointments as though he had just seen us the day before. He was always caring and had a great sense of humor. My thoughts are with your family in this time of grief.
