Raymond W. Miller, Jr., 86

Raymond W. Miller, Jr., 86, a longtime Millersville resident, passed away peacefully at Conestoga View Nursing Home, Thursday, June 6, 2019. Born in Philadelphia to the late Raymond W. and Ruth (Lebo) Miller, Sr., his family moved to Millersburg, where he spent his childhood and teen years. In 1957, Ray married Sally A. Leffler, and spent 46 wonderful years with her until she died in 2003.
Following his high school graduation, Ray entered the Army and served his country during peacetime. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to work for RCA, later to become General Electric, as an electrical technician where he retired in 1987. Ray worked as a part-time travel agent for Ridgeway Travel during retirement.
Of the Methodist faith, Ray belonged to Grace United Methodist Church, Millersville. He was a member of the Millersville VFW Post 7294 and was past commander of the former Mount Joy VFW. Ray spent many years as Scout Master for the Millersville Boy Scouts Troop 268.
Ray enjoyed life and spent a great deal of time traveling, visiting numerous national parks throughout the Continental US with his family. He was an avid camper who enjoyed fishing and hiking. Photography was one of Ray’s passions and in his later years he became a butterfly enthusiast. He enjoyed talking with others on his CB and ham radios; his CB call registration was KKG-3323. Ray was a die-hard Philadelphia Phillies fan, receiving lots of memorabilia from family and friends over the years.
Ray is survived by two sons: Gregory L. Miller, husband of Debbie C. Miller, of Loudonville, OH and Jeffrey D. Miller, husband of Susan E. Kruppenbach, of Leola; and a granddaughter, Kimberly E. Miller, of Ronks. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray is preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon D. Miller Newman.
Funeral Services for Ray will be held at 11AM, Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA 17551. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 10AM to 11AM. Ray will be laid to rest alongside his wife and daughter immediately following the service at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Ray’s name be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
