Richard K. “Dick” Ruhl, Sr., 74

Richard K. “Dick” Ruhl, Sr., 74 of Lancaster entered into eternal life on Friday, November 13, 2015 surrounded by his wife and children at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was the husband of Teresa Spadea Ruhl with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on September 16.
Dick was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lancaster.
He was born in Hempfield Township, son of Mary Kiehl Ruhl Kreider and the late Clayton H. Ruhl. Dick was a graduate of Manheim Central High School and worked for Lancaster Malleable Casting Company for 42 years. Following retirement he worked as a courier for Smoker & Company. He was a member of Lancaster Township Fire Department for 25 years. Dick was an avid sports enthusiast coaching Lancaster Presidents youth football, St. Mary’s boys basketball, and St. Joseph midget and legion baseball, as well as various women’s and men’s softball teams. He was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed the outdoors spending countless hours manicuring his lawn and flowers of which he took pride.
Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Teresa; his son Richard Jr.; daughter Gina and grandson Nathan Ruhl all of Lancaster; and his 5 cats, Tiger, Cosmo, Presley, Casper and Sneakers. He is also survived by a sister Ruth Deemer (John); brother-in-law’s John (Dottie), Vince (Lynnette) and Dominic Spadea and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Leo Goodman III as Celebrant. There will be a public viewing on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 8:45 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA and again from 9-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place Thursday at 11:00 AM in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Flowers will be received or memorial in Dick’s memory can be made to Lancaster Twp. Fire Dept. 125 Fairview Ave., Lancaster PA 17603 or St Jude Children’s Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
