Robert “Bob” Raubenstine, 93
November 10, 2023
Robert “Bob” Raubenstine of Lancaster passed away on November 10, 2023, at the age of 93. Born to Howard and Grace Raubenstine, Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a life well-lived. He was an insurance salesman for Nationwide Insurance and dedicated many years to the company.
Bob spent 71 blissful years married to his beloved wife, Josephine. Together, they built a life filled with love, and countless cherished memories. Bob was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams and his passion for golf knew no bounds, and he continued to enjoy the game until the remarkable age of 90.
Bob’s social spirit extended to his love for playing cards and being an active member of a pool league. He was also deeply involved in community activities, having been a member of the Republican Club, the Elks Club, and serving as the Lancaster City Treasurer and on the Lancaster City Sewer Authority. Bob was a devoted member of his church St. Anthony’s and then St. John Neumann. He was deeply spiritual and had a close relationship with God.
A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Josephine “Josie”, and their children: Diane Mowrer (wife of Steve), Mark Raubenstine (husband of Carm), Karen Cataldo (wife of Tom), and Nancy Bear. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Amy Baublitz, Kevin Raubenstine, Kyle Bear, Eric Bear, Michael Meck, and Jennifer Meck, as well as his great-grandchildren, Jude and Peyton.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, John Raubenstine. As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary man, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives, his unwavering dedication to family and faith, and the indelible mark he left on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on November 24, 2023, at St John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family invites guests to a visitation prior to an 11am mass beginning at 10am. Bob will be put to rest at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Community Care at hospiceandcommunitycare.org or to St. John Neumann Catholic School at sjncslancaster.org in Bob’s honor.

It was only about ten years ago that I met Bob in our weekly golfing group. Bob was immediately welcoming to me as the “new guy” and was always a cheerful and entertaining partner when we played together. As his health began to deteriorate over recent years, he played less but remained cheerful and engaged. He was a good friend and a great gentleman. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Dear Josie, Nancy and all your family–I was so sorry when Maggie (Lee) told me Bob had died. You must be heartbroken. He was such a nice and good man, Gere and I liked talking to him when we were all in church. He leaves a wonderful legacy, Nancy was always one of our favorite “friends” as our girls were growing up. You and your family have my very deepest sympathy and my prayers. Peggy Frailey
