Robert D. “Bob” Roth, 88, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Born in Lititz, Bob was the son of the late Stella (Royer) and David Roth. He was the beloved husband to Patricia “Patti” (Kauffman) Roth for almost 60 years.
Bob was a 1951 graduate of Lititz (Warwick) High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy from 1952 to 1956, serving in the Korean War. Bob’s tour of duty on the USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier allowed him to experience many diverse countries overseas. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from West Chester College and his master’s degree from Temple University. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed as a teacher for Conestoga Valley School District for over 31 years.
Bob thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, frequently hiking, fishing, and observing wildlife. He had an avid interest and love for music, especially Frank Sinatra, and was a lifelong member of Lititz Moravian Church. Bob treasured the yearly vacations taken to the beach with his family. His incredible sense of humor and kind heart will be missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his wife Patti; his children: Brian T. Roth of Lancaster and Shawn D. Roth, husband of Andrea Roth (Ralston) of Sinking Spring, PA; his grandchildren: Gillian and Flynn Roth, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 10 siblings.
The family will be holding a private funeral ceremony for Bob.

In the Fall of 1969, I was a nervous 7th-grader tasked with taking Gym Class via the use of an official “locker room” down in the bowels of the old Junior High School on School Drive in Leola. Yikes! Bob Roth made that reluctant experience far less nerve wracking for all of us. His pleasant demeanor and enthusiasm for our well-being was much appreciated. Never was there a condescending or unpleasant word uttered from Bob. He was always smiling and happy. He made gym class fun. What a healthy and positive impression he left on me. I have happy vivid memories of him some 52 years later! My sincere condolences to all of Bob’s family.

Bob and Pete Leach posed as Don Feiler, my “to be co-op” and Wayne Heim “principal” when I came to CVMS to have my pre-student teaching meeting
They took me to the boiler room, the under the stage storage area in the gym, etc. before telling me to sit in the back of Don’s room
I should have realized the principal and social studies teacher would have not been in chuck taylors and sweats but Barry Girvin had said in Junior Block class that CV Middle school was “progressive” so…
I also gto to see Bob and Patti at several picnics after his retirement – they were always so supportive and postitive — I think I lost a handstan competition to Patti once
To all of Bob’s wonderful people, I wish you comfort.

Uncle Bob was one of a kind. And he and Patti together enjoyed a ilfe filled with humor, music/dancing, fun and practical jokes, along with sharing a long loving marriage. I remember how wonderful he was with my two sons, fishing, or just hanging out with them. And of course the rattlesnake hunting stories never ended. I will miss Uncle Bob. I know that his spirit, his memory and his stories will live on in Patti and his kids, Brian and Shawn and Andrea and the grandchildren. and with me, too.

Dear Patti, Brian, Shawn, and family,
My deepest condolences on the passing of Bob. A wonderful husband and father and great friend of our family. Oh, the sweet and funny memories we have of his humor, wit, and friendship. He taught us to save the spider in the house, eat snapping turtle soup, and be patient while he and my dad hunted rattlesnakes. I think my mom still has the pic of Bob holding the wooden rabbit he caught on hunting day! So many memories. As he passes on to his heavenly state, I pray for comfort for each of you in knowing the impact he had on so many.
With love,
Lynn (Sipe) Golitz
