Robert L. Peters, Jr., 61

March 03, 2025

Robert L. Peters Jr., age 61, passed on March 3,2025 at his home in Los Angeles, CA.

Born in NJ and formerly of Lancaster, PA, Rob was a graduate of Manheim Twp. High School class of ’81. He followed his passion for horseback riding, rising through the equestrian ranks from amateur to professional in the Hunter and Jumper classes. He competed in horse shows internationally and domestically both as a rider and a highly regarded equine trainer. Seeing his students succeed was as important to him as winning championships at the prestigious Gold Coast and Blenheim equestrian events and competing at the Devon Horse Show.

Later in life Rob returned to school, receiving scholarships to become a Registered Nurse. His compassion for the acutely ill led to his care for cancer and HIV/AIDS patients. He was deeply loved in his community where he helped so many to recover from addiction. The Human Services Commission presented Rob with The Paul Andrew Starke Warrior Award in 2022, honoring him for his work in the Tweakers Project which helps recovering addicts.

Rob was widowed (Domingo) and is predeceased in death by his father Robert L. Peters Sr. He is survived by his mother, Florence Peters, sisters Judy Parker (Richard) and Deb Ridings (Lisa Dininio) and brother Jack Ridings, niece Sarah Ridings-Lee (Justin), nephews Jason Ridings (Mark Booth), Justin Ridings (Julie) and William Wagner (Stephanie), great nieces and nephew Amelia Ridings, Rowan Lee and Gabriel Ridings.

A memorial will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Friday, May 9th, 2025 at11AM, with friends invited to greet Rob’s family from 9:30-11:00 AM. Interment at St Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Van Ness Recovery House, 1919 Beachwood Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068-4006 or vannessrecoveryhouse.com.
