Robert M. Rothweiler, 93

Robert M. Rothweiler, 93, of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital, Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Bob, a life-long resident of Lancaster, was the son of the late Charles and Teresa (Dassinger) Rothweiler. He was the loving husband of June (Roden) Rothweiler, who died in 2003.
Bob was a 1944 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. He served in the US Navy and was part of the invasion of Okinawa on board the USS Medea, where he served as Radarman, 3rd Class. Following his honorable discharge, Bob became a pressman for the Lancaster Newspaper where he worked for 42 years, retiring as the foreman of the pressroom.
Bob was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Bob also enjoyed boxing and was an amateur boxer under the famous Leo Hauck. He was a member of the Riverside Club.
Bob is survived by his four sons: Buzz, husband of Carol, of Leola; Bill, husband of Lynne, of Pequea; Barry, of Mount Joy; and Brian, husband of Phyllis, of Lancaster; six grandchildren: Ryan, husband of Rebecca; Brandon, husband of Caroline; Zachary, Jesse, Shayne, husband of Liz; and Brittany, wife of Kyle; and two great-grandchildren, Corinn and Reed. He is also survived by Nick Karpouzis, who was like a son. Bob was preceded in death by his six siblings: Charles, Walter, Helen Rothweiler, Ida Rothweiler, Esther Stoner, and Mary Murse; and his grandson, Brett Rothweiler,
Funeral Services for Bob will be held at 11AM, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 9AM to 11AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Bob’s name be made to the Jeff Musser Foundation, PO Box 216, Akron, PA 17501 or online at https://www.jeffmusserfoundation.org/.
