Robin Jones, 57, of Alexandria, VA, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025 at her mother’s home in Lititz, PA. Born at a US Naval base in Morocco to Carol and the late Danny Wheatly, Robin’s life was marked by compassion, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to education and family.
Robin had over thirty years of experience as an early childhood teacher, administrator, and curriculum development specialist. In her most recent job at the District of Columbia Public Schools, she revamped the way the district coaches and trains early childhood teachers, benefiting thousands of young learners.
An active member of the National Associations for the Education of Young Children, Robin presented at numerous conferences. She also developed a preschool curriculum and assessment that is used in programs across the United States.
Beyond her remarkable career, Robin traveled frequently with her sister Teresa and close friends, including an annual beach trip with her family. She also enjoyed the comfort and companionship of her faithful dog Max.
She is survived by her loving mother Carol, devoted sister Teresa, stepson Alex Jones, niece Danielle Griffe, nephew Dylan Griffe, great-nieces and nephew Aubree, Zoey, Savannah, and Jackson.
Robin was a champion for equity and was not afraid to stand up for what was right. She will be forever remembered for her kindness, her generous heart, and her ability to find light even in the darkest moments. Her incredible spirit was a gift to all who knew her. Robin would remind each of us to find joy every day, even in the simplest things.
Services will be held at the convenience of family.
