I just heard the news of Ron Hamshers passing. My sincere condolences to Stephen and his family. I fondly remember classes and homeroom with Mr. H at Warwick Middle School in the late 70’s. He always had a friendly smile and a kind word for all. We re-connected just a few years ago at Dutch Apple Dinner theatre. I couldn’t believe he remembered me and jumped up to give me a hug. So sweet. I am sorry for your loss. Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear the news of Ron’s passing. Although I never had him as a teacher I loved interacting with him in the middle school drama club. Mr. Hampshire was as passionate as he was patient. He always had words of encouragement and praise. Brett, Doug and Elizabeth I am very sorry for your loss.

I was so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I worked with him at the Dutch Apple for a number of years. He was always a bright spot in my day and I looked forward to our conversations. Even though my daughter was not one of his students, he always stopped in for a visit to her classroom when in her school. He and his smile will be missed for sure! My thoughts and sympathy to the family.

Mr. Hamsher was my alltime favorite teacher and I’m saddended by the news of his passing. I was his student at Warwick Middle School in the mid 1970’s. I remember his Language Arts class vividly and in particular a game (that I beleive was his own creation), that was modeled on the game “Risk”. The class was didvided into groups where we formed and ran our own countries. We could run our country however we wanted, choosing, for instance to be a peaceful or a warring country and learning to mange our country’s finances through buying and selling goods. It was a powerful and creative way to teach how the world works and most of all, it taught us how to work together as a group and how to acheive our goals through communication and negotiation.
As memorable as that was, he will always have a special place in my heart for being the most patient and good-humored director of the Drama Club. In my years, we produced “Going Buggy”, and Annie Get Your Gun”. I have such great memories of being in those plays and in fact, I still have scrap books full of the posters, programs and articles that were in the Lititz Record.
As a special note, I’ve got two kids – 16 and 8 and when my 16 year old was a baby, I sang him to sleep with my favorite lullaby – “Moonshine Lullaby” form “Annie Get Your Gun”. 16 years later, I’m still singing that same song each night – now to my 8 year old. I have the Drama Club to thank for starting this little tradition!
He was a gem and I’m glad I had the good fortune to have had him as a teacher. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I want to share with you that Ron Hamsher had a huge impact on my life. He was teaching sixth grade at Lititz Elementary, and I was in his reading group. He cast me in the sixth grade play, The Wizard of Oz, and that was the beginning of my lifelong fascination with theatre. Later he was a guidance counselor at the middle school and I spent more than a few hours in his office — not entirely because I needed the counseling but because I just LOVED talking to him. He was a wonderful mentor and listener and when I think of those early days, he is a huge figure. My condolences to his family for this loss, but my thanks to the universe for having known him. Blessings …

I am sorry for your loss. Mr. Hamsher was a wonderful person! He was my supervisor when I was completing my student teaching at Millersville. He was so full of wisdom and I am forever grateful for his guidance. I truly believe that the care he had taken in helping me become a better teacher, is part of the reason why I am teaching today!
I hope that you find comfort this holiday season in knowing that the care and passion that he had for his many life activities can be carried on in all of the lives that he has touched. God Bless.
