Rose Marie Sourbeer, 88

Rose Marie Sourbeer, 88, of Lancaster, PA, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, at Abbeyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Rose shared 61 years of marriage with her husband Richard L. “Dick” Sourbeer before his death in 2017.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph John and Mary (Arndt) Sabinash. Rose graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School and was a devoted homemaker for her family.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rose volunteered for the Mercy Lunches. She was active with Guys & Dolls and Park City Twalkers.
Rose enjoyed summers at the family cabin at Crystal Beach Manor in Maryland. Later in life her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
Rose’s surviving family includes her son Richard T. Sourbeer, husband of Donna J. (Pleger) of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Kelly, wife of Jeffrey Harman, Jr. of Mountville, Daniel Sourbeer of Laurel, MD, and Randall Sourbeer, husband of Mallory of Reisterstown, MD, and three great-grandchildren, James Harman, Emma Harman, and Mila Sourbeer. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by four siblings, Helen Mimm, Dorothy Rife, Joseph Sabinash, III, and John Sabinash.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Pang J.S. Tcheou as Celebrant. A viewing will take place from 10 to 11 am at Church. Interment will be held in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.

Condolences to the Family

As hard as it is to lose our parents they never really leave us. Rich, your mother is as much a part of you as…you were to her. And while this may not make the grief you feel today any better it will in time as you sit around the table with your family sharing stories of her. You will laugh again and even cry sharing fond memories. We know as we have we have many times done the same thing remembering our mom, and her sister Dot.
