Rosemary L. “Pete” Frey, 90

Rosemary L. “Pete” Frey, 90, of York, PA and formerly of Willow Street, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2014, at York Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. and Josephine R. (Schmitt) Schulz. Her husband of 67 years Ralph F. Frey died in 2011.

She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School. Along with Ralph she owned and managed the former Frey’s Evergreen Plantation. Rosemary was the bookkeeper and primary buyer. She worked on the farm and did all the decorating for the business. She previously worked as a purchasing agent for Armstrong in the 1940’s and as a waitress at Kegel’s and the Rose Bowl. Rosemary was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Church.
Rosemary is survived by her 4 children, Barry F. Frey, husband of Carol Ann of York, PA, Susan M., wife of Dale Myers of York, SC, Constance M. Alexander of York, SC and Timothy L. Frey of York, PA; 5 grandchildren, Michael L. Frey, Melissa A. Frey, Amy S, wife of Shannon Dorer, Michele, wife of Robert Updergraff and Debbie, wife of Michael Jones; 7 great grandchildren and her sister Jeanett S. Burger and brother Edwin Schulz, both of Lancaster. In addition to her husband Ralph, Rosemary was preceded in death by her sister Jacqueline Grubb.
Mass will be held 11 AM Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, with Rev. Mark E. Weiss as Celebrant. Rosemary’s family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosemary’s memory may be made to Lancaster Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601.
