Sorry to hear this. Roy was a good friend of the family. He did a lot painting for my family and me. Our old house in Van Buren still has he last paint job on it and still holding good after all these years.I understand that Roy became a Believer in Jesus Christ in his latter years after he had moved away from Missouri which means based on God’s Word, that we will meet again. He was a true one of a kind.

Roy was a wonderful and inspirational friend who is deeply missed. He radiated a love for nature and a sincere interest in the lives of others. It was a privilege to spend time on walks, in the garden, or just sitting on the front porch with him. Keep Trucking, Roy!

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Roy’s passing. In his Ozark days, Roy would stop by often for a meal and several hours of conversation. I always found the combination of his unusually gentle, calm spirit and his quick, intelligent mind to be refreshing and stimulating.
Roy also had a keen sense of humor. Once when asked why he (always a hard worker) and his painting crew were quitting for the day in the middle of the afternoon, he replied, “It doesn’t take us eight hours to do a day’s work.”
Roy truly was a good and unique soul who enriched the lives of all who knew him. My condolences to Meredith and family.

I thought of Roy several weeks ago out of the blue after all these years out of high school (class of 1965 also). I was saddened to see that he passed away. I got out my yearbook and read what he wrote in it. Roy was really nice and a friend in high school. My condolences to his daughter and family.
Godspeed Roy

From John and JoAnn Thurman, Ellsinore, Missouri.
So sorry to hear of Roy’s sudden passing. He was a regular visitor in our home for many years while homesteading in the Ozarks situated near the Ozark Scenic Riverways. We remember him helping to stablize an old root celler on our property, among many other things. The root celler is still here! He introduced us to the Voltage Brothers! Since I was from upstate NY, we often talked about NY and PA. Roy was always kind and very gentle natured. Appreciated how he loved gardening, people and life.
Sure miss him. Deepest condolences to Meredith and family. Always in our hearts!

Sure miss Roy. We were looking forward to Roy coming out to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan this summer. He used to stop by periodically at our place in Illinois to raid the garden for a bouquet of flowers or veggies and share a meal with us. The welcome mat was always out for Roy he was one of those individuals who’s presence was always pleasant.

So sorry to hear of Roy’s passing. He was in our 1965 Class at Conestoga Valley. Some if us went to school with Roy since elementary. We were looking forward to seeing him this Saturday at our reunion. He will be remembered but missed at that event. Thoughts and prayers are with his family. Conestoga Valley Class of 1965.
