Ruth Ann Rash, 82
February 09, 2025
Ruth Ann Rash, a cherished member of the St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, Pennsylvania, quietly departed this world at the age of 82 on February 9, 2025, surrounded by her family. A devoted wife to the late Jay J. Rash, Ph.D., who left us in 2017, Ruth Ann was born in Livermore, Iowa, to Donald H. and Vera Hoffman Clark.
Throughout her life, Ruth Ann was a dedicated homemaker. She had a remarkable talent for quilting, a passion that led her to become both a member and president of the Kansas City Quilt Guild in Kansas City, Missouri. Ruth Ann’s quilts were not merely fabric and thread; they were expressions of her talent and creativity.
Ruth Ann also relished spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. An enthusiastic sports fan, she also passionately supported the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Nationals, and Indianapolis Colts.
Ruth Ann was a woman of faith, holding steadfast to her Catholic beliefs. She is survived by her loving children: Shannon, married to Barry Hum of Perryville, MD; Stephanie McClellan and her companion Tracy Eaddy of West Simsbury, CT; and Christopher, married to Sherrie (Baldwin) of Warrenton, VA. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren—Evan, Ashley, Mitchell, Chase, and Gabrielle, —and her two great-grandchildren, Maize and Liam. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Roger Clark of Logan, IA, and her brother-in-law John Rash of Iowa Falls, IA in addition to nephews, nieces and their children. She is predeceased by her brothers Nick, Doug and Dennis and her brother-in-law Jim.
A celebration of Ruth Ann’s life will take place along with a graveside service in Livermore, IA, at a later date. In honor of her memory, the family invites contributions be sent to the Livermore Library, 402 5th St., Livermore, IA 50558. The last two years and again this year, I will be in Ragbrai, In the past rides, I always thought how the people of Iowa were the kindness people around. Now, I see where Ruth Ann got her kindness from. She always had a kind word and such a beauty voice when she sang at St Catherine RC Church. When I ride again this year, Ruth Ann, you will be in my thoughts. Ruth Ann and Jay were always fun to be around.
