December 13, 2024
Ruth Anna Miller, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of the late Ruth (Hess) and Clarence J. Huber.
Ruth Anna was the devoted wife of the late Robert Herr Miller. Together, they built a loving family, which she treasured deeply. She was the beloved mother of Ronald K. Miller (Sue) of Verona, Richard K. Miller (Pam) of Manheim, and Roger K. Miller of Lancaster. She was also the proud grandmother to seven and great-grandmother to several. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Randy Miller, and her son, Robert K. Miller.
A compassionate and dedicated caregiver throughout her life, Ruth Anna enriched the lives of those she cared for. Outside of her work, she found joy in her hobbies, which included crocheting, gardening, reading avidly, and taking bus trips to explore new places. She was a longtime member of Landisville Mennonite Church, where her faith and community were a central part of her life.
A celebration of Ruth Anna’s remarkable life will be held at 12:30PM on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Rd, Landisville, PA 17538. I remember working with Ruth Anna at Mennonite Home. She was an activity person working on Oakview which had all of the dementia residents. She was always so kind and gentle with them and she was always bringing things from home to do activities with the residents. She always went above and beyond what was expected of her to give these residents an opportunity to relive a memory. I even remember her taking the residents outside to rake leaves from a large tree in a courtyard. She was a very special lady. May she rest in peace. Prayers to the family during this most difficult time.

I remember when Ruth Anna and Bob got engaged, I was so impressed with the creative notice she sent out. I can’t remember the details but I think it was in the shape of a cat and said, “The Cat’s Out of The Bag”. Then for many years she was busy up the street and I didn’t see that much of her until my parents died and I became the substitute address and had the pleasure of hearing from her every year with her annual recap. That’s when we started dropping by for a occassional visit and one year we must have visited in February when she had all of heart boxes displayed. Before that I never thought of the Miller boys as romantic. That was so sweet to see the evidence of their love for each other.
Condolences to all of the family for your loss. May she rest in Peace
