Sarah Ann McOmber-Thompson, 27
March 15, 2021
Sarah Ann McOmber-Thompson, 27, of Marietta, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Hospice and Community Care. She fought a 3 year battle against cancer with grace, class and heart.
Born in Lancaster, Sarah was the daughter of Sharon Lee (Wickenheiser) and Alan G. McOmber both of Lancaster. Sarah married her soulmate, Donny, on January 25, 2019. They created countless memories together as they traveled, hiked and kayaked.
Sarah earned her BSN in 2020. She was passionate about her job as a RN and BSN at UPMC Lititz. She loved helping people more than anything. Sarah loved animals, but none more than her beloved Zoey. Sarah lived life to its fullest and always cherished her family, faith and friends.
In addition to her husband Donny and her parents, Sarah is survived by her sister Shannon McCarter; her niece Kaylee, nephew Logan and aunt Ann McOmber of Lancaster as well as her furbaby Zoey. Sarah was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather; her maternal grandmother and several aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held outdoors on April 11, 2021 from 4PM-7PM at 505 Stricklers School Road, Wrightsville PA, 17368.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Small Cell Ovarian Cancer Foundation, www.smallcellovarian.org.

Dear Donny and all those close to Sarah,
1 Corinthians 13 shows love as the most excellent way; it “…always hopes, always perseveres…never fails.” It says we are nothing without it.
Sarah’s life was a gift of love while she was here, and Heaven is where love shines all the time. May her memory and God’s grace and love bring you comfort.
All our love,
Aunt Liz, Shawn, Lilly and Sarah

The world has been calling us all heroes, but here was a true hero. She helped others when we should have been helping her. She continued working and graduated with her BSN. She got married, and lived life, even with the odds against her. That is a true hero. It is rare to find such a pure heart/soul. I loved our talks. We were real with each other which I think helped us both. I will always remember Sarah and her beautiful light.

My deepest sympathy to Sarah’s family. So thankful I had the honor to work with her when I was at UPMC. Her dedication to patients and the nursing profession was always so evident. On a side note, we both loved animals. Rest in peace and may your memory be eternal.
