Sarah Helfand, 40
My heart is broken, along with heaviness and deep sorrow to share that my sister, Sarah Helfand has passed away only a few short weeks ago. From childhood mischief and teenage escapades, came adult journeys and growth. Together, we filled each other’s hearts with happiness and hope in times of sadness along with strength and courage in times of difficulty. Our bond was truly unbreakable. Sarah was passionate about fitness and thrived with every pound of pavement she hit when she ran; even in days when cancer attempted to shut her down, she embraced the fresh air and did what she loved most. She strived to breathe in the air of a good bottle of wine and relish in good food and company. Sarah is survived by her son, Givenchy Warren, extended Coradi family of our mother, father, Linwood Helfand, stepmother, Kathy Helfand, brother, Brandon Helfand, niece, Luna Helfand, myself and husband: Susan and Jeremy McCullough, nephews: Maverick and Jameson McCullough. A celebration of life will be held in early February; details to follow on social media.

Dear Sarah,
You were the mother of my first born grandchild. For a few years you were my daughter-in-law. During the past few weeks since your passing; I’ve been reminiscing over pictures and cards shared throughout the past several years. We maintained a mutual respect for each other, and many open honest conversations. Our final conversation shared occurred one afternoon this past September. We spoke honestly about your concerns and prayed together. Now you have been transported to the spiritual realm. Just want to let you know: I admired your tenacity to boldly and confidently fight cancer. I admired your strength to soldier on through chemotherapy again and again. You were a tough Cookie! Now you are Free…Amen
Your flesh and heart fail: But God is the strength of your heart and your portion forever. PSALMS 73:26

I met Sarah when we were both going to school online at St Bonaventure and had several classes together. During those classes we started a friendship and would complain to each other about those classes haha. We then found out that we lived near one another. We made plans to meet several times but life happened and we never met. Even though I never met her in person she made a huge impression on me and taught me to live my life to the fullest. Sarah was an amazing person and make a huge impact on many peoples lives. I am deeply sorry for your loss and here if you need anything!

Sarah was a patient of mine for several years. She always had an optimistic attitude despite her pain and loved talking about her son during her visits. My condolences to her family.

Brother Woody, Kathleen and Family…It is not supposed to happen this way… We are all supposed to go before our children do… God tells us Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.” We are praying for all of you. May the Lord wrap his arms around you and comfort you… In Jesus name we pray. 🙏 Amen🙏. pastor Bert
