Sarah M. “Sally” Davis, 93
December 10, 1930 - May 08, 2024
Sarah M. Davis “Sally”, passed away on May 8, 2024, at the age of 93 in Lititz, Pennsylvania. She was born on December 10, 1930, to the late Thomas and Eva Minshull in Muskegon, Michigan. She spent her youth with her sisters Mary and Nancy in the Lake Michigan area. She graduated from Michigan State University, earning her Bachelor’s degree. She went on to become a kindergarten teacher, which she found very rewarding.
Sally met Edward W. Davis at Michigan State University and they married on August 8, 1953. Together, they shared many adventurous years raising three sons and traveling the country in the hotel industry. They eventually settled in York, Pennsylvania in 1964. Sally’s husband Edward passed away much too early in 1991 while they were operating the Greystone Manor Bed and Breakfast in Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania.
She was a longstanding member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Lancaster. She was an active participant in various organizations, including her church, the Fulton Guild, and the League of Women Voters. Sally found fulfillment in volunteering and serving others.
While raising her sons she discovered that skiing was a wonderful way to spend time in the winter with her family. They skied together on the slopes of Ski Roundtop and resorts in the New England area. In her later years Sally enjoyed playing bridge, solving crossword puzzles, and attending the Fulton Theatre. Sally also enjoyed many wonderful family vacations in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Flower gardens and birds were a lifelong passion and most recently she enjoyed them while walking through the beautiful landscape interwoven throughout Brethren Village.
Above all, Sally cherished her family. She is survived by her children: Thomas, John, and Edward “Ned,” along with their respective spouses Susan, Sandra, and Laura. Her grandchildren, Erin, Natalie, Zach, Tim, Olivia, and Thomas were a source of immense pride and joy. She was blessed to have two great-grandchildren before her passing, Madeleine, and Nora. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy in Seattle, Washington.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Charles Snyder Funeral Home in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 with the service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally’s memory can be made to the SPCA of Lancaster at pspca.org/lancaster or the Brethren Village Employee Gift Fund.

I came across this by chance but as soon as I saw Sally’s picture I knew who she was.
I played football w/ Ed & Sally’s sons for 6 years or more in York. Tried keeping up w/ them on the slopes as well but they were better skiers than me. We lost track of each other after high school.
My parents very much enjoyed Sally & Ed’s company & friendship & often wondered where they got to after they moved to Harrisburg. Now I know.
To Tom, John, & Ned I’m so sorry to hear of your loss…both your dad & mom. I hope you’re all doing well & may God bless you & your families.

So sorry to hear about Aunt Sally passing. She was my mom’s sorority sister at Michigan State University. It is because of Ed and Sally that my parents met. Sending hugs and prayers to the family!
