SFC Calvin Lee Creswell, 55

SFC Calvin Lee Creswell, US Army, Retired, 55, of Wilkes-Barre and formerly of Lancaster, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Lancaster to the late Francis Willard and Erla Mae (Good) Creswell.
Cal attended Hempfield High School and then enlisted in the US army, serving 34 years. He served two tours in Iraq and also served in Kuwait, Bosnia and Germany, as a Petroleum Supply Specialist. The Army was his life. Cal was a member of the V.F.W.
A Born again Christian, Cal loved his family in his own special way. He took a wonderful trip to Camel Beach with his daughter Ginny, where “Bird is the Word”. Calvin was very big into football, he played midget football in East Petersburg and was a diehard Cowboys fan.
Cal is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Creswell of East Petersburg and Virginia “Ginny” Creswell of New Holland; grandson Killian and two brothers, James “Jim” John Creswell, husband of Betty of Ephrata and Paul David Creswell of Lancaster.
A graveside service officiated by Rev. Mark Ammerman, with Military Honors accorded, will take place 11:30 am, Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster, PA.

A good guy and a good Sgt. We work the night shift doing our deployment to Iraq back in 2005-2006. I did not know he had pass. I thought about him so I decided to look him up and this was the bad news that I found. Rest in peace big dog. 05-27-2017

I served with SFC Creswell at his last unit on active duty. What a great, good hearted man. I am thankful for all of our time together, and everything that he taught me. Seeing him play Santa Claus was one of the highlights of my Command…

Creswell Family, I am sorry for the loss of Calvin. I met him a a year ago and he is someone I will never forget. He was such a great person, humble but larger than life. He would do anything for anyone. He is a true hero for his time and dedication to the military, he risked his life for everyday for the safety of his country and his fellow countrymen. I am blessed to have met Cal and had the privelidge to call him a friend. May he rest in peace and may you find comfort in this difficult time.
