Sheila Teresa Craig Peregrin, 69
November 17, 2024
Sheila Teresa Craig Peregrin passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, at her home on November 17, 2024, just eight days shy of her 70th birthday.
Born in Brickerville and raised in Lititz, Sheila attended Our Mother of Perpetual Help School before graduating from Lancaster Catholic High School. She went on to earn a degree in Psychology from Immaculata College, where she was also a proud member of the Show Choir.
A devout Catholic, Sheila was an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she served in several key roles, including Choir Director, member of the choir, and Chair of the Liturgy Committee.
Throughout her life, Sheila’s professional career spanned several fields. As a young woman, she worked as a paralegal at the law office of Michael J. Minney, an Art and Music teacher at St. Anthony of Padua Parish School, and a member of the credit department at Maxima Technologies and Systems. She retired in 2019 after 20 years of service at the Mulberry Street School, Intensive Day Treatment Program run by Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Harrisburg.
Despite her many professional accomplishments, Sheila considered her most cherished role to be that of a stay-at-home mother. Her family was the center of her life, and she took great joy in raising her children and supporting them in every way.
An avid crafter, Sheila had been a member of the Schaffertown Distelfink. She enjoyed various forms of creative expression, including counted cross-stitch, quilting, painting, and ceramics. Sheila was particularly proud of her 2015 trip to Ireland, where she realized her lifelong dream of bringing her husband and children to the country she had always wanted to visit.
Sheila is survived by her devoted husband of 23 years, Robert Peregrin, her children Allison Diane Kane (née Mohler), wife to James Francis Kane of East Hampton, CT, and Rebecca Ann Musselman (née Mohler), wife to Andrew Tyler Musselman of Lancaster, PA, her grandchildren Lucy Jane Musselman and Roman Lawrence Keating Kane, and her siblings Dennis John Craig, Jr., husband of Ruth Suter Craig, of Eagles Mere, PA; Lisa Craig Burland, wife of William Henry Burland, IV, of Quakertown, PA; and Robert Stanley Craig, husband of Barbara Huber Craig, of Frederick, MD. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Dennis Craig, III and Mallory Craig; Kelly Burland Goldenberg and Katie Burland Poremba; and Robert Craig, Jr., Eileen Craig, and Gillian Craig. Sheila was predeceased by her first grandson Theodore John Kane and by her nephew William Burland. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11AM at St John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601. Friends will be received by Sheila’s family on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA , and again on Saturday at St John Neumann Catholic Church from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or St. John Neumann Catholic Church at the above address.

I have vivid memories of Sheila from my childhood — someone with a quick laugh and a sharp wit, an organizer and boss of us younger kids. Living a block up the street, and going to the same church, we saw a lot of the Craigs when I was growing up. They were constant playmates — for me, Sheila and Denny had a kind of mystique because they were older and went to away camp and took tennis lessons. I was amazed by it. Of course as we grew older, we drifted along different paths. But I remember that household — Mr. and Mrs. Craig, Bobby and Lisa, to — with great fondness. You can never forget your childhood companions. May she rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to your entire family. Sheila was so very proud to be your mother, girls. I feel both of you were absolutely her greatest accomplishment in life! Bob, she treasured you as well. May God surround all of you in his love and comfort.

The entire Craig family were so elemental to our own family, growing up in the next block on Broad Street, that it’s impossible to remember childhood without it including countless memories of Sheila, Denny, Lisa, and Bobby, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Craig. We shared the same faith as well as great swaths of many summers. I could write an entire book about the many adventures we had, from running around Lititz, to countless sleepovers and campouts, to running backyard carnivals for other neighborhood children. The Craig household was, for me, like a second home. While most of my time was spent with Lisa and Bobby, knowing Sheila was like having yet another big sister, and I looked up to her. I’m pleased to know she was blessed by and surrounded by such a loving and devoted family, and I haven’t a doubt she brought joy to her every endeavor in the community, in her work life, and in her church. The Craig family was, simply put, entirely formative for me in so many ways when I was growing up, and I will never forget Sheila.

Sheila was a very caring daughter of Dennis and Jane Craig, and a friend for many years
May she rest in peace.

Sheila was one of my constant friends, living a block apart on Broad St. So many memories of kick-the-can, our love of the Monkeys, lots of overnights and trying to get out of having to play with Lisa, whom we considered to be her pesty little sister (sorry Lisa!).
While we didn’t stay in touch as adults, she is always a fond memory of my childhood.
