Shirley Mae (Eshleman) Helm, 85
May 07, 2023
Shirley Mae (Eshleman) Helm received her angel wings on Sunday, May 7th in the comfort of her 8 children.
Born December 18, 1937 to Mary Eshleman and Edward Eshleman of Lancaster, PA. Shirley was 85 years old, preceded in death to her husband, Charles Helm of 67 years. Shirley died in her home under hospice care surrounded by her 8 children:
Debbie Gaul, wife of Richard with grandsons Jason and Jared and two great granddaughters, Claudia and Theresa;
Cindy Habel (preceded in death by her husband Peter Habel) with grandchildren Ashley Mae and Andrew P. Habel, and great grandson Christian;
Barbara Breneman, husband Wayne and grandson Wayne;
Brian Helm, his wife Carol, five grandchildren: Brandon, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Bronson and Griffen;
Brenda McDonald, wife of Michael; four grandchildren: Chad (with two great grandchildren: Noah and Mazie); Brad, husband of Valerie; Adam (with two great grandchildren, Ethan and Lilee); and Brittany (with two great grandchildren, Claudia and Jaxson);
Kevin Helm, his wife Wendy, and granddaughter Jackie;
Scott Helm, his wife Theresa, and grandson Trent;
Pamela Grab, her husband Bob, and grandson Ryan;
Shirley was a longtime employee of Hagers Dept. Store, Watt and Shand and Bonton. She loved cross stitch, adult coloring, jigsaw puzzles and mostly Bingo. She had her long time beloved pet Snowball her white cat. She fought a long time battle with cancer for over 28 years. She was a strong, courageous woman. She never complained but always thought she was a burden to others. She will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts. We owe a bit of gratitude to Hospice Compassus whom helped make her last few weeks on earth the best ever.
A graveside service will be held at Laurel Hill Memory Gardens, 845 Laurel Hill Rd, Columbia, PA 17512, Friday May 12, 2023 @ 10:00am.
