Susan J. “Jane” Dorman, 59
September 06, 2017
Susan J. “Jane” Dorman, 59, of Lititz passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at home surrounded by her family after a seven year battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Bury, Lancashire, England, Jane was the daughter of the late Jim Jordan, and of Olive (Pilkington) Jordan, and sister to John Jordan. She was the beautiful wife of Keith Dorman with whom she was married for more than 37 years.
Jane came to the United States in 1980 following her graduation from Sussex University and her marriage to Keith. Living in Virginia, she worked for two members of the United States House of Representatives before taking time off to raise her three daughters, Katherine (Britt) Bissett; Laura (Kurt) Schoener; and Elisabeth Dorman. Following a family move to Pittsburgh, PA, she began a teaching career in elementary education that spanned nearly 20 years with the Pine Richland School District. Jane moved to Lititz in 2013 due to her husband’s work relocation. She was an active member of the Lititz community’s Garden Club and Quilters Guild, volunteered at the Community Chest, and enjoyed playing on the women’s tennis team at the Bent Creek Club. She loved travel, reading, hedgehogs, working in her garden, having her family gather for holidays and events, and visiting and spoiling her granddaughter, Jordan Mae Schoener.
Jane is survived by her husband, three daughters, two sons-in-law and one granddaughter; by her mother and brother; multiple brothers and sisters in law; and nieces and nephews on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
The family will conduct a Memorial Prayer Service for Jane at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A reception for family and close friends will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, https://www.facebook.com/donate/1848166938830119/.
