Susan J. “Susie” Mickel, 62
January 23, 2017
Susan J. “Susie” Mickel, 62, of Manheim Township, is now with her son up in Heaven after she courageously fought an eight-month battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Craig A. “Mick” Mickel for 43 years. Susie was born in Lancaster to the late Glenn E. and Barbara E. (Calender) Minney. She went to Heaven on Monday, January 23, 2017, her 62nd birthday, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.
She was the mother of two beautiful children, Tonya L. (Mickel), wife of David Stofflet and the late Travis A. Mickel, who went to Heaven in 2004. She was the grandmother of eight grandchildren; Vanessa, Michael, Joseph, Mary Rose, Elizabeth, John, Clare and Teresa. Susie called her grandchildren her magic medicine. She is also survived by one sister, Diane, wife of Jim Wallace, two nieces and some very special cousins; Doretta, wife of Harold and Darlene, Jimmy, Bob and Rich; and her mother-in-law Ann E. Mickel.
Susie graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1972 and worked as a bookkeeper for the National Central Bank, as a front desk clerk for the Willow Valley Inn and she also did residential housekeeping. She loved life and loved people and especially enjoyed motorcycle and spending summers swimming with her grandkids in her pool. Susie was very giving, caring, loving and positive. She enjoyed going to LA Fitness to exercise and run to stay fit.
Susie and Craig don’t know how they could’ve gotten through these past eight months without the never-ending support from Tanya Dinger, the incredible friend behind the Susie’s Journey Facebook page, relatives, friends and neighbors.
Susie’s family will greet friends from 9 to 10 AM, followed by a celebration of her life at 10 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Susie’s memory to your favorite charity.

Although I don’t know Susie but the Susie Journey Facebook page, I do remember seeing her in school. Her smile in all the pictures shared on her page, all the friends and all the sweet things they said about her and how it came across in her page, I wish I did know her. Once a CV graduate always in our CV family. Prayers and thoughts to her family and may she rest in peace with Travis and her mom. Carol McCoy

Dear Craig and Family
We are so sorry for your loss. We loved Susie and we will alwys remember her smile and her laugh. She was such a caring and loving person and this world needs more people like her in it. I am sure she is happy being reunited with Travis and that they both will be watching over the family. She was such an inspiration with how she handled this disease and how she handled everything in life….with a smile and a positive attitude.
Please know we are thinking of you all and are holding you all in our prayers. We will miss Susie and we are all better people to have known her.

Beautiful obituary for a beautiful person and a beautiful life! Susie was an amazing person with an amazing faith and joy! Her care, love and kindness to others was an extension of the love of Jesus flowing through her to those around her. Our family is so blessed and honored to have known her. She was such a light in this world, and I know her light will continue to shine through Craig and the family and all who knew her as a part of her shines in each one of us that expetienced the blessing of knowing her! Praising the Lord for the amazing 62 years He shared her with the world! My prayers and sympathies to Craig and the family as they grieve the loss of having sweet Susie with them each day, but the pain will lessen in time and the wonderful memories will keep your hearts warm until you see her again!
