Susan L. Rubright, 67
January 24, 1956 - December 13, 2023
Susan L. Rubright, 67, of Mount Joy, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Hershey Medical Center. Sue and her husband John F. Rubright celebrated 43 years of marriage last May 10th.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Jennie Mae (Rhoads) Herrold.
Sue graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School, Class of 1974, and she completed the Licensed Practical Nurse Program at Lancaster County AVTS. In her 40 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Sue cared for patients at Lancaster General Hospital, several nursing homes, as a travelling nurse, private in-home care, pediatrics, and babysitting. She took immense pride in being an LPN and treated her patients with the utmost respect and care.
She was a devoted, loving and giving wife, mother, nan, and sister to her family. Sue’s family includes husband John, their daughters, Laura M. Rubright, of Hershey, Julie A, Rubright of Hershey, and Karyn L. Rubright, companion of Larry Floyd, Jr. of Mount Joy; their son Ryan J. Rubright of Hershey; grandsons Kowen Rubright and Lachlan Rubright both of Hershey; her siblings, Debbie DiNunzio, wife of Dom, Denise Sloyer, wife of Mark, and Dennis Herrold; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on her husband’s side of the family.
Sue dearly loved her family, especially her grandsons. She was always ready to help and give advice. Having twin children, Karyn and Ryan, Sue was a member of the Mother of Twins Club. Bringing the family together and in peace was important to Sue. She lit up when speaking about her grandsons. She enjoyed camping and going to Emerald Isle Beach and Bethany Beach. When the kids were younger, Sue was active with them in 4H Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and their sporting events.
Sue was strong willed, and she had a great sassy sense of humor with the cutest chuckle, smile, and a grin that nobody could ever forget. She enjoyed flower gardening, humming birds, watching the Philles with John, online shopping, watching Hallmark Movies and soap operas, and being pampered and having her nails painted. Recently she was researching dogs for adoption from the SPCA and she was always searching animals for adoption because of how much she loved dogs.
Susan’s family will greet guests from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by the memorial service at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Sue’s 40 years of nursing service will be recognized by Lancaster Nurse Honor Guard during the memorial service. Interment will be private.
