Susan S. Hard, 93

Susan S. Hard, 93, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Brethren Village Retirement Community. Born in Bennington, VT, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Isma (Fuller) Sargent. Susan was the beloved wife of the late Cyrus P. Hard, Jr. She was also predeceased by her son, Jeffrey, and two sisters Virginia Barry and Nancy Horne.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Emily H. Ipsen and her husband James, and two grandchildren, Nathan P. Ipsen and Erin R. Ipsen, all of Lancaster. Also surviving are three nieces, Sue (Mark) Flandreau, Tish (Tom) Borden, and Debby Prentice (Rich Dobuski).
Susan had a very strong faith in God and shared her beliefs and testimony. She was a delightful conversationalist and had a marvelous sense of humor. She was always very interested in the lives of other people. She earned her Bachelor’s degree and post-graduate education and became a librarian. She loved to read. She enjoyed animals, plants and watching birds. Susan was a talented musician and played the piano and trumpet. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. She took special interest in her grandchildren and encouraged them to pursue the activities that they enjoyed, especially tennis.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service which will be held at 7:00 PM, February 19, at the Chapel at Brethren Village Retirement Community, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. (Main entrance, parking on right. #3009) Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made in Susan’s memory to the Good Samaritan Fund at Brethren Village, whose staff were always kind and loving to her.
