Sylvia “Saveria” (Fiorentino) Macrina, 92
November 27, 2024
Sylvia “Saveria” (Fiorentino) Macrina, 92, of Lancaster passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Moravian Manor, Lititz.
Born in Gasperina, Cantanzaro, Italy, she was the wife of the late Antonio “Tony” Macrina to whom she shared 61 years of marriage on December 2, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Rosa (Catrambone) and Domenico Fiorentino.
Known for her warm heart and incredible cooking, she was famous for feeding not just her family but friends and neighbors as well.
Born in Italy, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 with a brave and determined spirit, seeking a better life for her family. A year later, she was joined by her husband, and together they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and hard work. A proud U.S. citizen, Sylvia wholeheartedly embraced American culture while cherishing and preserving her Italian heritage. Though she was a proud American citizen, Sylvia loved Italy, returning there six times. She loved playing bingo, cooking delicious meals, shopping for treasures, and, above all, spending time with her family, who were the center of her world.
She is survived by a son, Vincent D. Macrina of Delray Beach, FL; two daughters: Rosanne Macrina of Lancaster and Teresa M. Dunn and her husband David J. of Lancaster; two grandchildren: Kelly Rose Abramson (Glen) of West Chester and Ryan E. Dunn (Brigitta Burks) of Cincinnati, OH; two great-grandchildren: Gabriella Rose and Marc Antonio. She was preceded in death by an infant son Vincent Dominic Macrina as well as two sisters: Rose Manno and Marianna Iemmallo.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Friends and family will be received from 10AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Sylvia’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, heart.org, or Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Moravian Manor Lititz and Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.

Teresa, Roseanne, Vince, and the entire Macrina family. My deepest condolences for the loss of your dear mother. Teresa and I have been friends since the first grade. Your mom was a big part of my young life. She always had a smile on her face. I have many fond memories of our conversations around your kitchen table. It’s her first Christmas in heaven with your beloved dad.
My prayers are with you all, Chris (Kruika) Gimber

To Vincent, Rosanne, and Teresa,
I express my sympathy on the passing of your mother. It was a privilege to know Sylvia. I have good memories of times when we shared laughs over something that transpired. I still remember when she saw my office for the first time, which did not have any windows, and the title she gave my office. She was very quick to add it was nice though. 😊
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
