Teresa Marie Shelly, 70

May 06, 2024

Teresa Marie Shelly (Terry Pegoretti) passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, with her family by her side. Teresa was born on August 8, 1953, at Lancaster General Hospital to Mary A. Pegoretti (Mae Leonard) and the late Robert F. Pegoretti (Bob Pegoretti).

Raised in the Catholic faith, Teresa attended Saint Anthony of Padua School and graduated from Lancaster Catholic HS in 1971. She then embarked on a 35-year career with Armstrong World Industries, holding several administrative positions within the company. As a young adult, she enjoyed the experiences of modeling for JC Penney Department Store and waitressing at former establishments, the old Paddock and Bentley’s. In later years, she served as Executive Director of the Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce and was also employed by the Ephrata Chamber, making a significant impact in local business communities.

Teresa is survived by her husband, David E. Shelly; her mother, Mae Pegoretti; sister, Joy Sharp (Joy Pegoretti), wife of Tony; son, Matthew Shelly, husband of Tenisha, granddaughters Ivy and Lily; daughter, Ella Grishin (Ella Shelly), wife of Artem, grandchildren, Nikolai and Jane (fraternal twins) and Alexei; stepson, David Shelly, Jr., husband of Marissa, four step grandchildren; stepdaughter, Amanda Yiengst, wife of Brandon, and two step-grandchildren.

Teresa and David would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on September 22 of this year. The couple was deeply devoted to each other, always working together to achieve their life goals and wished to support their family in every way imaginable.

Teresa enjoyed spending time in the home she and her husband had built together. She loved gardening, decorating, and took a special interest in cuisine. She especially loved dining in restaurants and trying new recipes. It was her pleasure to host any gatherings that brought friends and family together. She will be remembered as a social and gracious woman who held deep convictions and wore her heart on her sleeve. She was a loyal and caring person. Her
legacy happily lives on through her loved ones, who will miss her dearly.

Arrangements for Teresa have been made for Friday, May 17 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home on Lititz Pike. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Christian service at 11 a.m., with contributions by Pastor Ryan Clift of East Fairview Church in Manheim, where Teresa had been attending with her husband.

Condolences to the Family

Just found out that Terry passed away, after leaving her a birthday message on Facebook. Am very sad to know she left this earth, but am convinced she is in heaven now. 🙏
Terry was a dear colleague from Armstrong from 2016 and on. She was so sweet, caring, kind, and with a beautiful smile, always ready to lift one’s spirit. We lost track of each other after I moved away, now residing in Fort Myers FL.
Condolences to the family!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I worked with Terry at Armstrong. I heard so much about her husband and young children at that time.  She loved her family and was always sharing stories about you all..  Terry was just the kindest soul..  Always and I mean always wore a smile! And her laugh?! She made me crack up!!!  Such a beautiful person on the inside and out.  A star is now shining brighter in our sky. May you feel the LORD’S  peace and love at this time… Cindy

I remember Terry from high school. I would pick her up in the morning and after school. She was friends with Gina who lived out in Quaker Hills where I did. We didn’t have bus transportation out there, so when I turned 16, I drove kids to school with me. I had some fond memories.

I was very saddened to hear of Terry’s passing.  I first met Terry during Freshmen year at Cathoilc High.  She was in all of my classes that first year.  Super gal.  Thoughtful. Kind.  Pleasant.  It was indeed a pleasure to have Terry as a friend.  She will be sorely missed by so many.  I join them in sending my sincerest condolences and prayers to the Shelly and Pegoretti families.  God Bless.
