Thomas C. “Tom” McCarty, 60
January 14, 2025
Lancaster native Thomas C. “Tom” McCarty, 60, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer Kirchner McCarty, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. Tom was the son of the late Thomas E. and Esther I. “Stacy” Storms McCarty.
Tom was a man of deep faith and a lifelong, active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and taught CCD classes. His devotion to his faith was part of a proud family legacy—dating back to 1743, when the McCarty family helped establish St. John the Baptist Church in Bucks County, PA. Today, the Catholic Diocese recognizes it as the site of the first recorded baptism in the 13 original colonies.
Tom was widely known as a kind and compassionate soul, a true “friend to all.” He had an infectious love for people, music, travel, and the joys of life itself. Whether at a family gathering or a social event, he was always the life of the party, effortlessly drawing others in with his laughter and natural humor. But beyond his wit, it was his rare gift for connecting with people that truly set him apart. Tom had a unique ability to put others at ease; he was a true helping hand who put a smile on everyone’s face.
A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Tom had a special place in his heart for the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a decades-long season ticket holder, sharing many memorable moments with friends and family at the games. In recent years, Tom dedicated his time to umpiring youth baseball, a passion that followed his earlier years of coaching youth teams.
For the past 14 years, Tom served as the national sales manager for Stoner Consumer Brands, makers of Invisible Glass. His career in sales began with Kunzler & Company, where he worked for 11 years. He was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned his MBA from Lebanon Valley College.
Deeply committed to his community, Tom also made a significant impact through his charitable work. He served on the board of directors for Celebration for Life (C4Life), a local charity dedicated to raising funds for the fight against cancer. Additionally, he was a co-founder and co-chair of the Tee Off for Tom, Tom McCarty Memorial Golf Tournament, an event established in memory of his father to support children battling cancer and their families.
In addition to his wife, Jen, Tom is survived by his two children: Braden T. and Lily M.; his sisters Patrice, wife of Michael Hoenninger, Lancaster, and Trudy, wife of John Wonder of St. Michaels, MD; and his brother-in-law, John Bender, Jr., of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol A. Bender.
Friends will be received on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 6-8PM at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA, and then again on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 10-11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Tom’s memory to Hospice & Community Care 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Mount Joy, PA 17604-4125 or to St. Joseph Catholic Church at the above address.
Tom will be missed dearly by many — most especially, his loving family.

Tommy was a true and caring person of strong faith. His family meant everything to him.He possessed the most unique wit and would always make you laugh no matter what he was going through. At Halloween parties he was bar none, to the most craftiest and humorous costumes. Surely he will be missed by many.

I was blessed to know Tom starting in September of 2023. Tom was working on developing an advertising campaign for Stoner/Invisible Glass. Our agency owner and I met with Tom via Zoom. His energy and enthusiasm for his work was incredible. He was so detailed, focused, and willing to do more – whatever was needed. But what I remember most of all was he was honest and transparent – clearly one of the good guys. We were eager to support him and the company, even before the company became an official client. I’d never been so excited to clean glass and suddenly I was doing side by side glass cleaning comparisons and having my daughter and husband judge. Invisible Glass for the win every time and Tom loved hearing this. Tom was clearly a family man as we both talked about our family albeit briefly, as we were focused on the work. I’m so sorry for Tom’s family, Tom’s work teams, and all who loved him. Prayers for all. Karla Crawford Kerr

I am so sorry to hear this. I was fortunate to get to know Tom when he was Tommy. He was such a fun loving and loyal member of his family. One of my favorite recollections of Tommy was during a LCHS football game. I had just been tackled and there was this loud banter from the sidelines telling our opponent that they were not going to stop us. As I got up I looked over and it was Tommy! An Eagle fan in the making. I was fortunate to connect with Tommy over the years as he became Tom. Still the fun loving loyal family member who would do anything for you. I connected primarily digitally but that appraoch did not erase his unbelieveable qualities. My son met Tom at a business meeting years ago and said he met a great guy. Those were the exact words my brother Jeff used when he found out and shared he saw Tom at a Mass recently. Jen, Braden and Lily I hope you can find the Lord’s peace at this difficult time. Patti, Trudy and all the McCarty extended family I wish you strength and peace as well. I do believe Tom will continue ensure the Lord’s blessings for you all.

Tom was such a wonderful person and iam very sad to hear of his passing. I grew up with Jen and her family on Fremont St and got to know Tom from church. He was always at Sunday mass and took time out to be an usher or assist the priest if he needed help. He would have a quick wave or a smile everytime he handed out the bulletins. He will be deeply missed by so many. Prayers to all the Kirchner/McCarty family’s.

We lived beside the McCarty’s growing up on Hilton Drive. I remember Tommy schooling us younger kids in the neighborhood on football and running us thru drills. He and Mark Taylor had a “football camp” of sorts in the field in back of our houses. He was a huge Eagles fan and his passion was infectious. My memory of him over the years is being just such a nice personable man with a bright personality. Thoughts & prayers for his family.

I grew up next door to the McCartys and Tommy was the closest thing I had to a big brother. He teased me and looked out for me.. he taught me the joys of playing electric football and Risk. We had meals and parties with his family, vacations, celebrated holidays. I’m so broken-hearted at his passing. My heart and prayers go out to Jen, Braden, Lily, as well as Patty, Trudy, and their close extended family. Love you Tommy!

My name is Bret, I work at Bluebird and worked with Tom on the Invisible Glass business at Walmart.
I’d only known him for several months, but I quickly became exposed to Tom’s infectious charm and passion for his work. He was an incredible joy to work with and talk to.
Some of our conversations led to the mysteries of life, where it became obvious that Tom was an all-around amazing guy. Not just in his career, but in his personal life as well. I always looked forward to our calls and off-the-cuff conversations.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and I hope they can find a little peace in knowing how many lives were touched in such a positive way by Tom. He will be missed dearly.

**Tribute to Tom**
Tom was not just a fraternity pledge brother; he was a cherished friend from our freshman days at IUP all the way to graduation. His uplifting spirit brightened our conversations, earning him the affectionate nickname “Onion Head” among the brothers. Tom was beloved by everyone in our fraternity, embodying the qualities of kindness, humor, and camaraderie. He truly was one of the best among us—a remarkable person who brought joy to all who knew him. Tom will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever hold a special place in our hearts of the Kappa Sigma brotherhood
