Thomas Edward Harney, Jr., 88

Thomas Edward Harney, Jr., 88, of Ephrata, passed away at Conestoga View on February 4, 2018. Born in Fargo, ND, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward Harney, Sr. and Mayre (Healy) Harney.
At a young age, Tom became a proud member of the U.S. Navy and served at the end of World War II. He was stationed in Newport, RI on the USS Missouri and the USS Rochester. After two years of service, he attended the University of Notre Dame and Canisius College on the G.I. Bill.
Tom was passionate about his work in sales and was a long-time employee of Mohawk Finishing and Star Finishing and Touch-Up. After his retirement from sales, he worked as a driver for Phoenix Courier.
Though he loved working in sales, his true love was Notre Dame Football. Go Irish!
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Rosemary (Messina) Harney, son Thomas E. Harney III, daughter Mary Catharine Harney Miller (Paul), and his sister Margaret “Peggy” Harney Pagano (Anthony). He is predeceased by his parents and his eldest sister Mary Catharine Harney Donahoe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 12PM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church located at 501 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA 17602 with Father O’Brien as celebrant.
