Tomas Chavez Siaton, 78
October 19, 2021
Tomas Chavez Siaton, 78, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 surrounded by his children. Born on February 8, 1943, in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur in the Philippines, he was the youngest of seven children of the late Marcelo and Isidra Siaton. He was the loving husband of Linda Siaton for over 50 years.
Tom was a cum laude graduate of San Beda College and received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a major in accounting and auditing. In 1965, he earned his Certified Public Accountant license and joined the prestigious firm of Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co, the largest accounting firm in Asia. It was through his role as an auditor that Tom met his future wife, Linda. Assigned to a one-day audit of her company, he was, in his own words, “captivated by her after only working with her for a few hours.” They married in 1969.
Tom’s accounting expertise also opened the door for immigration to the United States in 1972. He successfully passed the New York State CPA exam and worked at the accounting firm Laventhol & Horwath until he transitioned to the private sector in the early 1980s. Tom subsequently worked for Precision Concepts Inc. and Jefferson Pilot Corporation. He retired from the Lincoln Financial Group in 2008.
Tom was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC, the Bukas Loob Sa Dios (BLD) Catholic Charismatic prayer group, and St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Lancaster, PA. He was a Second Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed photography, gardening, camping, traveling, and watching sports. In his younger years, Tom enjoyed bowling and skiing. He started playing golf after he relocated to North Carolina in 1994. Upon moving to Lancaster in 2016, he joined the neighborhood bocce league at Village Grande and enjoyed his reign as a repeat champion. Above all else, he loved spending time with family and friends. He faithfully and devotedly cared for his wife until her death in 2020.
He is survived by his children: Warren Siaton (Jo Lynn) of Malvern, PA, Christine Siaton of Phoenixville, PA, and Dr. Bernadette Siaton (Steve String) of Baltimore, MD; his 8 grandchildren: Alex, Christian, Ella, Daniel, Ava, Sophia, Lily, and Darren; and sister Cora Generoso of Deer Park, NY. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and son, Gerry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name may be made to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church (https://www.stleos.org/), address above or to the Headstrong foundation (https://headstrong.org/).

May you rest in peace, tito Tom. You were like a second father to me even put you as my emergency contact for my children when they were in grade school. Everytime I pass by Clemmons esp. Tanglewood Park and Holy Family Cath Church, not one moment that I didn’t think of you and tita Linda. How I wish I had visited you in PA but stuff happened and it wasnt had. You were always on my mind. I will miss you terribly but I know you’re in better hands now with tita Linda at your side. Say hi to tita Linda for me. God be with you Tito Tom.
