Troy Dennis McIlwaine, 23

August 04, 2017

Troy Dennis McIlwaine, 23, sadly left this world far too soon on Friday, August 4th, 2017. Born to David and May-Britt (McCarty) McIlwaine on April 12, 1994 in Lancaster, PA. He was greatly loved by his brothers Ross & Grant and grandparents Dennis and Ria McCarty of Spring Hill, Florida and Dr. William and the late Melva McIlwaine of Millersville, PA and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Troy’s 100-watt smile lit up every room and heart, especially during his shifts at Universal Athletic Club. A 2013 graduate of Manheim Township High School and current Millersville University student, Troy loved studying government & philosophy and was a brother in the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

Troy loved his boxer dog Diesel, skateboarding, snowboarding, kayaking, ice hockey, and writing. He had an incredible ability to connect with anyone and had great compassion for others.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 14th, 2017 at 6:30PM at Calvary Church (east entrance), 1051 Landis Valley Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive guests following the service in a casual reception at the church.

Dearest May-Britt,
My heart is breaking for you right now. I was absolutely stunned to see the passing of your dear son. I can only imagine the pain. Both of my guys happen to be home this morning (rare, since both live out of state now) when we saw the obituary. We fondly remembered the days when we visited you and your boys on Butter Rd. The memories of our litttle boys hoisting big rocks to build dams at the creek behind your house is a fond memory we will always have of Troy.
Even though our paths don’t cross often any more, you are a forever friend. I’m carrying you in my heart today and for the coming weeks. I’m praying that God will envelop you in a blanket of peace and that He will carry you in His everloving arms when you are too weak to stand. “Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.” -Psalm 119:76
I love you, dear friend. Grace, peace and hope be yours abundantly.
