Vernon H. Dyer, 74

Vernon H. Dyer, 74, of Lititz passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Edwin and Miriam (Herr) Dyer. He was the loving husband to Suzanne Rehm with whom he shared over 22 years of marriage.
He was a 1962 graduate of Manheim Twp. High School. He later enlisted in the US Army where he proudly served during the Vietnam War. Vernon retired from the former Alcoa manufacturing plant in 2008 after 45 years of service in various positions.
Vernon had a love for photography and enjoyed doing weddings, senior pictures and engagements. He also enjoyed biking, was a black belt in karate, and target shooting. He was a member of the East Petersburg Sportsman Association and the Elstonville Sportsman Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy, wife of Mark Kready, of Lititz; two grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
A Committal Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Conestoga Memorial Park Mausoleum, 95 Second Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603 with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vernon’s memory may be made to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Suzanne so sorry for your loss. Vern was a great man. Always enjoyed our rendezvous on the deck . You both felt like family . You both felt like a warm blanket when we would see you. He really told us how much he Loves you. He will always be with you.

We are sharing our sincerest condolences to you and your family! Vern always shared a sweet smile and warm ‘Hello’ when we would cross paths at LBC, IH or Mad Chef. He will surely be missed but his memories will live forever.

Jason and I are so sorry to hear this news. Vernon was such a fun-loving man. We’re glad we were able to get to know him better and enjoy many dinners with the two of you. He always made us laugh. Many hugs and prayers to you. We feel privileged to know we’ll always have a small part of his passion with the photos from our wedding we proudly display and get to look at everyday.
