Veronica Denise Joyner, 61

Veronica Denise Joyner, born to Arthur Jones and the late Kay Gardner Gadlin, passed away on Sunday January 28, 2024.

Veronica’s life journey began in Charlotte, North Carolina but then moved to Bristol, PA, where she graduated from Delhaas High School in 1980. Throughout her high school years, she excelled in both basketball and track, showcasing her athletic dedication.

On October 10, 1981, Veronica married her husband, Kevin Louis Joyner, Sr. Veronica pursued her passion for education, attending Bucks County Community College to study teaching and later obtaining certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Veronica’s zest for life extended beyond her professional pursuits; she was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and found joy in cheering them on during every game. Additionally, she cherished moments spent at the movies, shopping, traveling and crafting.

Veronica’s greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband, Kevin, and their children: Shamika Joyner, Kevin Joyner, Jr., and Johnathan Joyner (husband of Nikole), all of Lancaster. She was a doting grandmother to Azhané Fannings, Aniya Fannings, Makhi Taltoan, Laneya Joyner, Kevin Joyner III, Kaiden Joyner-Vanhook, Inda’yah Joyner, Knowledge Joyner, and Ja’Leah Joyner, showering them with affection and wisdom.

She is also survived by her father, Arthur Jones, and siblings: Priscilla Tomoney (wife of Toney), Tommie Gadlin III (husband of Antoinette), Jackie Jones Bethune (wife of Mark), Courtney Jones, Arthur Jones Jr., and Chadwick Watts. Uncle: Donald Bogan. Nieces and nephew: Charisse Pendleton, Shakira Tomoney, Tiara Tomoney and Josiah Tomoney. Veronica’s memory will be cherished by Jaleesa Fry, Christopher Fry, her godchild; Taysha Fry as well as her dear friend, Sherry Fry.
Veronica was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Gardner Gadlin, her stepfather, Tommie Gadlin Jr., and her aunts, Veronica Smith and Deborah Bogan.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, 17602, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, where a heartfelt service will be held at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Veronica will be laid to rest at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.

Veronica’s warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine.
