Warren M. Archibald, 77, of East Petersburg, died at Geisinger Community Medical Center, on Sunday, July 3, 2016. Born in Scranton, Warren was the son of the late John G. and Marion N. (Jordan) Archibald. He was the loving husband of the late Demaris A. “Demy” (Bartholme) Archibald, to whom he had been married for 52 years.
Warren graduated from Scranton Central High School and then went on to graduate from Penn State University in 1960. He worked for the Department of Agriculture as the District Conservationist in Lancaster County until his retirement. He proudly served in the US Army during peacetime. Warren greatly loved and cared for his family. Warren was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, East Petersburg, for over 42 years. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to Masonic Lodge #43. Warren was also a member of numerous civic and service oriented organizations in Lancaster County.
Warren is survived by his three sons: Paul Archibald, husband of Susan, of Wayne; James Archibald, husband of Carrie, of Whitefish, MT; and Steven Archibald, of East Petersburg. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Zachary, Ethan, Justin, Sydney, and Megan; a brother, William Archibald, husband of Beverly, of North Port, FL; and two brothers-in-law: Neil Bartholme, husband of Carol, of Newton, PA and James Bartholme, also of Newton. Warren is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family across America.

Arch &  I shared a lot of love doing our work to keep Lancaster farmers and ag lands sustainable.  He though NRCS and me with USDA’s Farm Service Agency.  Had lots of respect and had fun with the quirky bantering on some of our fed gov’t frustrations.   He is at peace and once again joining Demy in that shining star. Arch…. share those 5 golden rings with Demy. May your memories bring smiles in your hearts.

Dear Family of Archie – I worked with Archie through the Lancaster County Conservation District for five years.  He was the best in so many ways.  He was always willing to teach, show, and discuss solutions to any agriculture/conservation related issue, topic, or challenge.  He had a wonderful smile and laugh, cared for “his boys” no matter what the age, and always had THE BEST costume for the Annual Super Bowl luncheon.  He meant so much to so many people over the years who spent time under his management and supervision.  Archie will live on through the BMP that he created – the Archie Basin.  He was a good man and is happy again to be with his loving Savior and loving wife.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.  Know he was loved by many.  Chotty Sprenkle, Cochranville

My sincere sympathies on the loss of your husband/father/grandpa/friend and other wonderful descriptions for who Archie was and will be remembered for being.   I worked with him on several projects during my 8 years in the NRCS State Office in Harrisburg.  He was always willing to drive me around and show me the county that he cared about so much.  I did have one project that got him worried that I was going to get him trouble when we were trying to film the urban encroachment on the ag lands aND were asked to leave.  We teased each other about that for a long time!  I enjoyed my time with him.  Blessings to you all.  May the warmth of your memories comfort you through your grieving.
