William H. Stein, 89

April 26, 2020

William H. Stein, 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

He was the husband of Jacqueline Albert Stein, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage this past February 19th. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles J. Stein and Madeline Greenblatt Lipman.

Bill had worked in sales for most of his life for various companies.

He was both a creative and intelligent man, enjoying photography, classical music and was an artist. He enjoyed and played many sports, such as tennis, golf, volleyball, bowling, and fishing and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He also loved animals of all kinds.

His family was his greatest love, being a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and way of interacting with people, and was loved by all.

Bill was of the Jewish faith.

In addition to his wife, Jacqueline, he is survived by his daughters: Cynthia “Cindy” Stein Trond married to Stephen Trond of Lititz, and Debora “Debbie” Johnson of East Petersburg and by his 2 beloved grandchildren, Chelsea E. and Chandler C. Johnson.

Services were private and at the convenience of his family. Please make contributions in Bill’s memory to the American Heart Assn. (Lancaster Chapter), 4250 Crums Mill Rd., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112.

So Billy it’s been over a year since your passing and I am so sorry I did not get a chance to deliver that delicious ribeye you enjoyed so much. I think of you every day and I am so blessed to have King Tut in my bedroom about 15 feet away from me and next to your mother’s lamp you gave to me after she died. So I think about Madeline too and the wonderful meals she made for me. What a great cook! Wish both of you were still here but I am so thankful to have these objects that comfort me. Love and miss both of you!

Miss my good buddy and have great memories of fishing with Billy in Canada and in the bay in Atlantic City. We played many tennis games against each and had many laughs while playing especially watching and laughing when the ball went over our head. Billy would lend you anything. He had duplicates of almost anything you would need in his basement. I will miss spending time with him watching the Eagles football on Sunday. Goodbye my buddy. Will catch up with you soon and you probably know the King Tut is with me now thanks to Cindy and Debbie.Think of you every day.

To Jackie, Cindy & Debbie and all the Stein family,
It is with grat sadness I learned of the passing of Bill.  I first met the Stein family when my husband and Bill were patients at HV.  Jackie and I would take our husbands out onto the back porch for some fresh air.  We would spend some time visiting and talking and I never got tired of Bill’s dry sense of humor.  He made me laugh.  Then later on at the evening meal at HV if Jackie or Bill noticed I was by myself they would invite me to eat with them.  So many people knew Bill at HV and he will be greatly missed.  My sincere condolences to you all.
Blessings and love

To Cindy and Ms Stein,
I’ve only met Mr. Stein one time and yes from that single encounter I felt he was a funny man.  I met him and his wife ( Ms. Jackie) with Cindy (whom I’ve known) at a restaurant that is no longer in business.   As my husband and I sat down to eat I saw Cindy across the dining room she quietly said “Peeps” (my nickname given to me from Cindy’s husband) but her father gave it more volume “PEEPS”. I had not known him and he said my name with such joy and energy we all laughed out really LOUD.  Rest easy Mr. Stein!
Condolences,
Wanda “Peeps” Peoples

Dear Jackie, Cindy, and Debbie,
We were saddened to read about Bill’s passing. I have nothing but fond memories of Billy and how much my parents loved all of you. Bill would toss you girls around the livingroom when you were small and you always came back for more. And I witnessed some intense games of gin with Stan Friedman as well. Truly, he was loved by all and now will surely be missed.

Dear Jackie and family,
so sorry to hear that ” uncle Bull” is gone. Been thinking about you lately. Maybe he and my Dad can finally get a good round of golf and a decent gin game going. Herb and I have wonderful memories of your family and we still have the beautiful letters from your girls when my Dad, Stan, passed away. May his memory be a blessing. Andi Friedman Shiroff

Dear Cindy, Debbie your loving Mom and family,
Please accept my deep condolences to your family following the passing of your beloved Dad Mr. Stein. It was a joyful experience assisting him while he lived at ACC Homestead. We really got to know each other well with your Dad and I always thought of you guys as family…..those are memories to cherish. Bill was a man of immense intellect, wisdom and knowledge….. I always learned something new and valuable each time I interacted with Bill. I know most of my coworkers share the same experience. He will be sorely missed. As you mourn his passing and process the new reality, I pray that God may grant you the comfort and fortitude to endure the loss. May God rest his soul in eternal peace ☮️ Amen 🙏🏿
