William L. Salzman, Jr., 73

February 17, 1951 - December 12, 2024

With great sadness the family of William L. “Bill” Salzman, Jr., announce his passing on December 12, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born February 17, 1951, in Lancaster to William Salzman Sr. and Grace A. (Garcia) Salzman. He shared over 53 years of countless memories, love, and laughs with his wife Bonnie (Donahue) Salzman.

In 1970 Bill found his passion working the rails, starting with the Pennsylvania Railroad, until his retirement from Norfolk Southern as a General Yardmaster. In retirement, he enjoyed coaching baseball and bowling for and worked as a sports videographer for Penn Manor. He served as an officer and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Harrisburg Consistory.

Most importantly Bill’s world revolved around his family. He was very involved with his children and grandchildren and treasured memories with them. They fondly remember his love of watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State Football, the love of music that he shared with his children, and vacationing to the islands.

He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife Bonnie, their son Matthew Salzman, husband of Nicole Kahl of Conestoga, grandchildren, Trevor, Trystan, Hailey, and Raegan, a sister, Sherry Salzman, and a niece, Star Rae Salzman. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and a daughter, Kelly Salzman.

A Memorial Service honoring Bill will be held at 11 AM on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. The family will receive guests from 10 – 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Masonic Charities of Pennsylvania.
